Slumdog Millionaire and Oscars 2009

Hope sells like hot cakes and the story of Slumdog Millionaire is again a story of hope that has managed to sell itself to win golden globes and now get 10 Oscar nominations.

The story of Slumdog is that of a boy Jamal, born in a Slum in Mumbai, one of those million children whose future is doomed from they day they are born. But hey! thats not what happened.

For me the most heartening part is to see A R Rahman get 3 nominations for the music of movie. This is another incidence of a Slumdog (not literally) who becomes a millionaire. Being an adopted child, his father died when he was 9 years. His family had to rent out musical equipment to support a living. He went on to be called as the “Mozart of Madras” by TIME magazine and to finally win Golden Globes.

Finally, if you have hope in your movie that can be a source of inspiration for its viewers, the Oscars are not far away.

  1. What I can see in this movie…. you can learn from your life. Everyday daily life is learning.
